  9.          Hi folks, my name is Blood Sucker and I'm from Quebec City.
  10. I've joined DnA Team as a Canadian Writer/Informator so here is what
  11. is going on here:

  14.      It all started one day (some years ago) when some smugglers saw that
  15. the price for cartons of cigarettes in Canada was too expensive... This
  16. is the story...The provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and New-Brunswick have the
  17. biggest problem.

  19.      The Fed. Government has lost over 2 Billion Dollars from sales of contra-
  20. band cigarettes . Some Mohawk and Huron Indians were selling cartons for half
  21. the going price before. They were selling 'em For less money(20$/carton).
  22. Resellers were selling them to us, the smokers. The price of Contraband Cigs
  23. was between $3.00-$5.00 while the legal ones cost $6.00-$7.50 . After the
  24. 8th of Feburary, the Feds realized that nobody was going to buy legal
  25. cigarettes. That's when they decided it was time to cut prices!

  50.     enormous profits...

  52.     Leeched from the Globe & Mail 22th of Feburary:

  54.     Someone has to draw the line somewhere against this nutsy Ottawa-Quebec
  55.     Scheme to lower the prices of Cancer Causing Cigarettes . The mighty
  56.     waters of The Bay Of Fundy ( and the Trans-Canada highway West of
  57.     Ontario) are as good A place as any for this newest Maginot Line.
  58.     Keep your hearts pure and your powder dry.

  60.     The Nova Scotia decision to keep provincial cigarette prices high while
  61.     neighboring New-Brunswick folded like a cheap tent is what you might
  62.     expect from a cabinet containing three medical doctors, one of them
  63.     the Premier John Savage.

  65.     Still, it won't be easy to stop a flood of cheap cigs from entering
  66.     the province from next door, though Nova Scotia has had plenty of
  67.     experience in erecting funny little barriers to regional trade.

  69.     The moral argument didn't work with Quebekers : Some of 'em even made a
  70.     show of buying contraband cigarettes in a church parking lot last month.
  71.     But you never know with Nova Scotians. All the ones we've met have been as
  72.     straight as the day is long . They've had to be, to keep sometimes-shady
  73.     governments from typing over too much the other way .

  76.     B.S.-=[ The Federal Government is also planning to employ up to 50 new
  77.     smoke police (health inspectors actually, at a cost of $2.5 million)
  78.     This means another fucking thing that we Canadians will have to pay for
  79.     with our taxes...]=-

  81.     Anyway Now The Packs Are 2.80$ for Normal Sizes And 2.85$ for King Sizes.

  83.     Before they cut down their prices people had to be older than 16 to buy
  84.     cigs. Now it's 18 years old, but nobody in Canada gives a fuck, because
  85.     nobody Is respecting this Law... That means that you can be 5 Years old and
  86.     smoke as much as you want... THIS IS LIBERTY!!! Anarchy in action!
